The Nanjing Changjiang Bridge was built and completed in 1968. The heritage structure and landmarks have become the pride of China.

The Problem

The bridge is a double-decked road-rail truss bridge that runs over the Yangtze River. Over the last 50 years, the 34 approach spans (double-curved arches) have experienced rebar corrosion due to aging and weathering. The bridge has been repaired many times in the past. Nanjing Changjiang was the first heavy bridge designed and built using Chinese expertise.

Our Solution

Galvashield® XPT anodes were installed in the arch rib repairs to control the ongoing corrosion and prevent future corrosion.

The Result

The corrosion mitigation system will help to preserve the structure and lengthen the repair cycle. The One-and-Done™ single-wire connection can be installed up to 2x faster than the traditional two-wire connection, saving up to 50% on installation labor cost.
